Call for Volunteers

BSides Maine is launching its very first conference, and we’re looking for community‑minded, reliable volunteers to help make it a success. If you’re excited about cybersecurity, passionate about community events, or simply want to be part of something new in Maine, we’d love to have you on the team.

Volunteers are the backbone of every BSides event. You’ll be joining a group of people who believe in openness, collaboration, and creating a welcoming space for security professionals, students, and hackers of all kinds.

 

Free Conference Attendance

Volunteering at BSides Maine means becoming part of a community and shaping the experience for everyone who attends.

 

Exclusive staff‑only swag

You'll receive a staff t-shirt and exclusive staff-themed electronic badge giving you access to the conference.

 

Bragging Rights

You'll be part of the team that launches and runs Maine's first hacker conference!

Commit to Assigned Shifts

You’ll choose your availability in the volunteer form. We rely on volunteers to show up on time and communicate if anything changes.

Help Where Needed

You may be assigned to one primary role, but flexibility is appreciated — conferences are dynamic, and there’s always something to do.

Support a Safe, Inclusive Environment

All volunteers must read and agree to the BSides Maine Code of Conduct. Volunteers act as ambassadors of our community values and help escalate any issues to organizers.

Maintain a Positive, Community‑Focused Attitude

No experience is required — just reliability, respect, and a willingness to learn.

Specialist Roles

If you have experience with lockpicking, AV, or other specialized skills, let us know, we may have a perfect spot for you.

Flexible volunteers who can jump in wherever needed.

Commitments & Requirements

Age Requirement: All volunteers must be 18 years of age, or older.

Code of Conduct Agreement: All volunteers must read and agree to the BSides Maine Code of Conduct. Volunteers help uphold a safe, inclusive environment and may be a point of contact for concerns.

Shift Commitment: Volunteers are expected to commit to their assigned shifts and communicate promptly if availability changes.
